Shila Amzah 征服 conquered at Shanghai

You can't imagine someone who does not speak Mandarin, can sing a mandarin song that well, with feelings.

Shila Amzah well deserves the champion title, literally 'conquered' (征服/zheng fu) the hearts and minds of the judges and audience.

It's not unusual to find Malay (especially girls, though) who like to listen to chinese, japanese or/and korean songs. In my guts feeling, I think that fewer chinese do the opposite (who like or even bother to listen to Malay songs). Malay don't understand chinese songs but they like, many chinese do understand Malay, but rarely listen.

well, i don't follow Malay pop songs, but i do appreciate Malay/Indo rock songs.

hi there,

Actually, shila amzah attended SJK Cina from Year 1 to Year 3. She can understand mandarin but doesn't speak it that well. So i'm not surprised that she could sing mandopop songs very well.
And, I too hardly listen to malay songs cuz, well, frankly speaking, 75% of malay songs are the weird boring very jiwang style that makes you wonder if that really is a musical number or what?!lol!

Oh,i don't know much about these facts, thanks for telling me!

anyway, I don't deny that i don't quite like jiwang style songs also, but on the other hand, just like chinese pop music these days increasingly influenced by the West, Malay songs also have the same trend.

Although I am not frequent listener to mainstream Malay pop songs, I would like to say that Indo rock songs really have top quality, they really know how to write good songs and really professional about music making!

hahaha.well, bro, some of malay songs are catchy to be listened.it's just that you have to select the best.and i think the same goes with chinese songs.not every chinese song has the best rhyme or melody to be listened, but everything depends on that individual...for me,a malay guy whose rarely listen to chinese song, has no problem to accept any chinese song as long it captures my heart and my soul...HAHAHA...

all da best for you Phd bro...
